COLUMNS
Columns
Structural Columns is of type "Component Family", which means that it is possible to create
Parametrically-driven objects outside the project, such as *. rfa-files, and at any time to load
these in any project.
Structural Columns contain an analytical line, and this is the line that separates columns in Revit
Structure from used columns, for example, in Revit Architecture. These do not contain an
analytical line and will therefore not be able to be used in conjunction with static analysis in a
FEM-program.
There are two different types of columns – or rather, two different ways to treat the columns on,
and these appear when the column should be added to the project.
See next page for further explanation.
When inserting, the following options appear in the Ribbon:
Vertical Column:
Vertical column – inserted in plan view with
option to add height.
Slanted Column: Column with slope – added
in elevation view.
Load Family: Here you can download other columns as columns are of type "Component
Family".
At Grids: Here you can add columns to grids intersection.
At Columns: Is it architectural column, that have been inserted, can the structural columns be
placed at the same point as these.
Tag on Placement: Start tagging on the columns, while you are placing these.
Options Bar changes appearance:
Rotate After Placement: Rotates the columns after they are inserted. It is also possible to
select the column and tap the SPACEBAR – it does the same thing.
Space rotates 90 ° (or perpendicular to the module line)-Rotate allows typing angle.
