Breakthrough wall opening. Includes breaking an opening in an existing interior or exterior wall,
cutting out the existing wall frame and cover, installing a header where studs or brick are removed, and
trimming and casing the opening. Add the cost of floor and wall finish to match the existing surfaces on
both sides of the new opening. In multi-story construction or in wide openings, a steel lintel may be
required to support the framing above the opening. Add the cost of engineering, the lintel, and one hour
of carpenter time for each foot of lintel length. Wall breakthrough for door or cased openingDoor or cased
