1997 FCI Racing World Championship Freiburg, Germany, June 7-8
284 Dogs from 13 countries were registered. 15 Sloughis. The winning Sloughi bitch ran a
new track record in the first preliminary run. The old record was from 1985. The
neighbouring clubs from Selestat (France) and Kleindottingen (Switzerland) helped out
with their volunteers. In total there were 160 volunteers helping out. The event was
opened by two German Olympic champions, Dieter Thoma (ski jump) and Adolf Seger
(rings). There were a lot of spectators during the whole event. 7 Pharaoh hounds were

also competing at this event, a first for this breed.
