Sloughis of Bou Salem, Tunisia
Raouf Ochi's uncle had bred Sloughis. But As Raouf wrote to me, the "Sloughi-
when Raouf came back from Germany, Tunisians" can only say to the Bergmanns:
where he had lived and studied for some
time, his uncle had died and all the Sloughis "Thank you for the Sloughi lineage that you
had disappeared. He had to rebuild his left us!"
breeding colony. He got the white Sloughia
Gtaya and the Sloughi Skhab 1 from the GTAYA
Bergmanns.
White Gtaya is two years younger than
Raouf Ochi writes: Skhab 1, she had no offspring. Her mother
was Kahena, red sand, her sister was Ramla.
"... "Tunisia, Bou-Salem: my grandfather
"Mohamed El Hadj" bred Sloughis before my
uncle "Loubiri". My grandfather was the first
to introduce the Sloughi to the Bou-Salem
region."
Raouf Ochi goes on a hunt for classic game
with the Sloughis: the hare, the fox and the
jackal. Since there are no gazelle in the
northwest of Tunisia anymore, this game is
missing. He only goes hunting with his
Sloughis, no other dogs go with him. For
several years now his son Darb has gone In front Skhab 1, behind the white Gtaya,
hunting with Sloughis too. in between puppies © Raouf Ochi
