Technology
All organisations must change over time to keep up with new pedagogies, recent
technologies and user demand. These changes are not only applicable to industry, but also
to educational institutions. Change in any education institution is required to adapt to
changing student profiles. The needs of students are constantly changing in line with
global, technological and societal changes in work, leisure and education environments.

Technology for the future
One of the most important resources that is in constant flux (and constantly advancing) is
technology. Technology is the way of the future and the cornerstone of the 4th Industrial
Revolution; it has been adopted by the university as the “future of teaching and learning”.
Technology is the foundation of any distance (online) university. Without technology, the
university will not be able to become a university of the future.
It is not only technology that is critical – the proper use of technology is also essential. It is
not worthwhile for online universities to use technology only on a supply and demand
basis. Technology must be a “living” tool that guides and assists all academics in the
teaching and learning process.
