One of the problems of venue‐based examinations is that all students must be
accommodated in the available examinations venues.
As a result, the examination period has to be
extended, which means that some academic
teaching and learning time is lost. The academic
term is therefore becoming shorter to ensure that
all students can be accommodated during the
examination period. In some cases, the academic
term has been reduced from six months to only four
and a half months. This results in a lower pass rate
and student complaints about the ethical inequality
of the process. The following statement can be
made:
The university must revisit, realign and revitalize
the examination process in the current learning
ecosystem.
Online examinations are key for a fully online
educational pedagogy.
