and burn off some energy. The intention was to another ETT with show potential. And we got
stick to basic ‘beginner’ training but Archie loved
going, made lots of new friends, and really took
to the discipline of the training. Within 6 months
he was walking to heel, doing recall, sitting/
staying beautifully. And he went on to secure
his ‘advanced obedience’ and win several club
obedience awards.
One of course is never enough. Izzy
(Hollybirch Mystic Meg At Edalene) joined
the family a year later. Our next step was to
enter the world of dog showing. We met with
the owner of the only ETT regularly showing in
Scotland, and were persuaded to give ringcraft
and showing a try. Archie was acquired as a pet
and had little interest in showing. Izzy however
made her show debut as a puppy at the Leeds
Championship Show in 2014 where she won
Best Puppy Bitch – qualifying her for Crufts
2015, one of several shows where she won her
class.
Meeting other dogs – and their owners – gave
us the showing bug. We established our own
kennel name (Edalene – which is a Gaelic
word for ‘Noble’) and began to look around for

two! We acquired Leo (Sharex If I Can Dream
For Edalene) as a puppy from Jane Williams
(Sharex) and Lexi (Ariane Oh What A Night At
Edalene) a three year old from the late Larraine
Errington with the specific aim of showing them
and with an eye to potentially starting to breed
our own. Leo won several classes at open and
champ shows and went on to win one Reserve
CC. Lexi won many classes at shows and went
on to win a Reserve CC, her Show Certificate of
Merit (ShCM), her Veteran Warrant (VW), and a
Group 4 Veteran Place at a UK Championship
Show. The only ETT to have a won a Veteran
Warrant. Lexi was top ETT for 2019 under the
ETT Club Points system.
As new exhibitors and breeders we were
fortunate enough to meet Jane Williams
(Sharex) who has since become a great friend
and mentor who has given us invaluable advice
on all aspects of breeding and showing, and
John Richardson of the famous Reeberrich
Kennel who took an instant liking to our Enzo
and gave us great advice and encouragement.
Our first homebred litter came from a mating of
Lexi with Dewi (Sharex Dragon Prince). Enzo
(Ch Edalene Grace And Danger ShCM ) and
Ellie (Edalene All About Eve) have both done
well in the showring. Enzo, shown by Rachel
Inch, was retired from showing after winning 4
Challenge Certificates and 2 Reserve Challenge
Certificates, and after being crowned top ETT
Dog under the club system in 2017. Ellie is still
showing and has won 4 Reserve CCs to date.
So within four years, one had become six! And
the story has gone on. In 2018 Izzy produced
two pups from a mating with Enzo. Bette
(Edalene All About Eve) and Bart (Edalene
Dark Victory) joined the team although only
Bette has gone into the showring. In her short
career to date she has won several classes at
Championship Shows including 1st in Junior
Bitch at the last Champ Show held in the UK
(Crufts 2020). And in 2020 we acquired Ianto
(Sharex Terrys All Gold Of Edalene) from
Jane Williams (from Ch Sharex Mighty Morgan
