RED SHIRTS
This programme is run in conjunction with SERVICE IQ and The Warehouse. Students must
commit to attending 10 days of work. There is a selection interview at school for all
candidates.
TRADES ACADEMY
Sacred Heart works in conjunction with the Taranaki Trades Academy run by WITT. These
are a practical and hands on experiences using industry standard equipment and technology
to produce “Work Ready” young people. Students will be interviewed by WITT staff before
the end of the year. This programme runs for at least 30 weeks – three terms. Credits gained
are reported at the end of the year.
3 + 2
3+2 is an initiative designed for Year 13 secondary school students who have completed
NCEA Level 2. Students work towards NCEA Level 3 for three days at school and spend the
other two days working towards a Level 3 national qualification with a tertiary provider.
Some benefits:
• Learn a new subject that you would not be able to achieve at school
• Build on previous achievement and experience at NCEA Level 2
• Work towards NCEA Level 3
• Gain a relevant Level 3 tertiary qualification
• Gain hands on experience in a particular career pathway
• Still be enrolled at school easing the transition into the tertiary study environment
