Art
Year 10
Prerequisites: None. Year 9 students considering Art in Year 10 are welcome to discuss their
suitability with the Leader of Learning.
Content: This course aims to prepare students for NCEA Level 1. The main focus is on
developing students’ practical knowledge and ability to develop pictorial ideas. Units of work
incorporate the study of recognized artists as a basis for students to explore and develop their
own ideas. At senior level this is a university accredited course.

Drama
Year 10
Prerequisites: None.
Content: This is a course offering the pre-requisite skills for NCEA Level 1 Drama. This course
focuses on building self-confidence, developing vocal skills and body self-awareness. The
students explore improvisation and theatre forms throughout history: Greek, Elizabethan,
Melodrama. They will also devise their own dramas and write scripts as well as using
published scripts.
Cost: Approximately $70
Music
Year 10
Prerequisites: Students need to be learning an instrument (or voice). Entry is in consultation
with the music teacher.
Content: Music is a practical and knowledge based subject. It allows students to understand
the historical development of musical, analyse music in depth, develop knowledge of musical
theory and aural skills, and develop their performance and compositional skills.
