Level: 1
Aims: Students are challenged to become reflective thinkers within the creative process, who
are able to formulate problems and apply inquiry to generate new knowledge and or
understandings. Through the process of generation, critique, synthesis and production,
students develop skills transferrable to other areas of their lives and knowledge that informs
critical analysis and invention.
Competencies: Organisational and time management; Research; Sequenced recording,
development and compositional drawing; Perceptual and technical skills through drawing,
painting and printmaking; Critical awareness; Ability to generate, develop and resolve
pictorial ideas.
Pathways this course contributes towards: Entry into Level 2 Painting, Photography.
Other essential information: There is no prerequisite but Year 10 Art is desirable.
