Chairperson & Principal, Nirmal Bhartia School, Delhi
P ooja Jhaver is the youthful chairperson of the new genre Nirmal Bhartia School, Dwarka,
Delhi (NiBS, estb. 2005). Jhaver was given charge of this K-12 co-ed day school in 2006, soon
after it was promoted in 2005 by her late grandfather Mohanlal Bhartia (founder of India Glycols Ltd)
who promoted it in memory of his son Nirmal, who tragically passed away at age five. Since then,
under her determined leadership, this school has steadily risen in public esteem for delivering holis-
tic curricula, child-inspired pedagogies and personalised learning experiences to its 1,072 students
mentored by 100 teachers.
In the latest EducationWorld India School Rankings 2019-20, the CBSE-affiliated NiBS is ranked #6 in
Delhi, #9 in Delhi NCR and among the Top 15 co-ed day schools countrywide. Moreover, the school
is ranked #2 countrywide under the parameter of leadership/management and #3 for individual
attention to students.
“NiBS is a labour of love by a family deeply inspired by the transformative power of education. After
the untimely loss of his first child, my grandfather built NiBS in his memory. But due to his failing
health, the school didn’t get off the ground smoothly in the first year of operations. Volunteering to
take charge, I worked together with our team of committed and determined teachers and restarted
the school with a new vision and approach. From a first batch of 12 students and eight teachers in
2006, our enrollment has grown to 1,072 students today. NiBS has been built on a cultural legacy
of resilience, openness to change and deep faith in the power of parent-teacher partnership. Our
teaching-learning comes not just from books, but from an entire ‘joint-family’ of friends, peers, ar-
tistes, experts and thought leaders working together to truly inspire every child to be the best that
she can be,” says Jhaver, an alumna of the highly-reputed Oxford University, UK.
