A phy and economics) degree from Oxford University followed by a Masters in Inter-
national and Comparative Education at Teachers College, Columbia University (USA),
after her return to India in 2005 Jhaver began an internship with The School KFI, Chen-
nai, of the Krishnamurti Foundation of India. However, she was soon called upon by her
ailing grandfather Mohanlal Bhartia, to take charge and relaunch the newly promoted
NiBS.
“When I was requested to lead NiBS, I drew upon the culture and pedagogies of all
the excellent educational institutions that I had attended. In particular, I was deeply
inspired by the idea of nurturing a life-long learning community where parents and
teachers led the way by partnering with each other and in turn, inspiring children to
learn by seeking strength and support from friends, peers and their environment. Four-
teen years later, I am delighted that NiBS has developed into a caring, creative and
collaborative community. In NiBS we appreciate individuality and we have developed
pedagogies rooted in real life which help every student to pursue excellence and real-
ise her highest potential,” says Jhaver.
A spirited debater, bibliophile and art enthusiast, Jhaver was conferred the Education
Leader Award by the Institute of Career Studies, Lucknow in 2011.
