2. Elements of the solution (columns in Table 5.1) are interconnected:
Redesigning curricula requires reshaping faculty’s role. Building
bridges to potential employers may require additional adminis-
trative staff while, overall, administrative expenses should be
reduced.
The elements of the solution, which are described in detail in Chapters 6
through 14, address the root causes of the underlying problems. A summary
of the recommendations for each element is given at the end of each chapter,
and a compilation of the recommendations is provided in Appendix A.
