START OF THE STRUGGLE
A historic scene at the All India Conference Committee
in Bombay, Mahatma Gandhi talks with freedom fighter
Jawaharlal Nehru. The meeting led to the Quit India
campaign, which called for Indians to rise up in
non-violent resistance to British rule. The next day,
Gandhi, Nehru and others were arrested and
protests erupted nationwide. India celebrates
75 years of independence this month.
