Slow Cooker Applesauce
Vegan
Gluten-Free
There are so many wonderful apples available now at the grocery
store, especially when they are in season in the fall. For a tart
applesauce, choose Granny Smith apples. For a sweeter apple-
sauce, go for Golden Delicious apples. Other great selections
include Jazz, Gala, Pink Lady, and Roma apples.
Cooking Tip: Unsweetened applesauce is often used in baking to
replace oils and reduce the fat content of the product. This apple-
sauce is a great contender for that, and should be pureed instead of
left chunky if you’d like to use it for baking.
8 apples, peeled, cored, 1 tablespoon evaporated
and cut into wedges cane juice
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1. Combine the apples, lemon juice, and cane juice in a 4- to 5-quart
slow cooker.
2. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours. Stir occasionally.
3. Transfer the applesauce to a blender or food processor and pulse
to desired consistency.
