Chapter 2 – Fundamentals of Laser Tattoo Removal v1.0
This tattoo exhibits a number of adverse reactions including blistering, punctate bleeding, vascular damage in the dermis and loss of epidermis.
Some of this may be due to an adverse reaction of some ink to the energy – perhaps a chemical response which has aggravated the skin.
Some of it may be due to excess energy being applied.
Figure 58d: Adverse reactions following laser treatment
Here is an example of a very bad reaction following laser treatment. The epidermis has clearly been completely removed exposing the ink-laden dermis beneath.
In addition, we can see a large margin of erythema, indicating a possible infection – very likely given the extent of damage.
This kind of result is most likely due to excess fluence during treatment.
