Some lasers might already display the energy density (fluence) on the screen, so you might think you don’t need to calibrate. This is an error! All lasers lose power over time – they simply drop in efficiency with use.
Such a laser would still need to be calibrated, maybe every six months, to ensure that the energy you are delivering to the skin, is actually the energy your screen indicates.
How do you calibrate your laser?
To properly calibrate your laser, you need the appropriate energy meter – one that can handle the huge peak powers of Q-switched/picosecond laser!
