Chapter 2 – Fundamentals of Laser Tattoo Removal v1.0
Often, you will see the term ‘VLT’ on laser safety glasses. This stands for ‘Visible Light Transmission’ and indicates how much ambient light will get through the filter.
Likewise, the total occluders, which block out all light must also be appropriate. In the EU they must display the CE Mark.
Occluders, such as these, are designed specifically to protect the wearer’s eyes from laser energy. These carry the CE Mark and can protect across a wide range of wavelengths.

The safety of your, and your staff’s and patients’ eyes, is critical when using high-powered lasers. DO NOT take chances with them. Always use the proper safety glasses. Plus, check them regularly (at least once a week) for cracks or breakages.
