 SERVICE IN THE COMMUNITY UPDATES
GROWING SPIRITUALLY TOGETHER
When we knew that our next assignment will be an Action Group Leader (AGL) of the newly formed unit that consists of the new graduates of CLP21, Ate A and I got mixed emotions knowing how “different” the new assignment is from our previous one. But, of course, it is another God’s call to service, we said, “YES!”
It is quite a “challenge” for us because our Action Group (D1) consists of new members. “No pressure,” whispering softly to myself. We surrendered everything to God’s Infinite Wisdom. We submit ourselves to His plans.
Last December 15, 2019, Sunday, we had our first Action Group Meeting (AGM), and only 9 out 18 members attended, including us. It was really a struggle finding schedules. In spite of the few attendees, we proceeded with our action group meeting – considering it is a divine appointment with God.
Last February, we lost one of our members whom I witnessed became a changed man. He was close to me because I was his discussion group leader during the CLP. He was a good servant of the Lord in the making, but God has a better plan for him. This was my first challenge as an Action Group Leader.
On March 13, 2020, Friday, days before the implementation of the Community Quarantine, we had our action group meeting and we got a good number of attendees, 12 to be exact.
We had our fair share of challenges along the way, but we learned to PRAY together as a Family, in order to overcome these hurdles ahead of us. Indeed, God has put everything into place. All our worries merely faded and the task at hand was already easy to carry.
Even with our present pandemic today, we stay virtually connected with them, taking advantage of the social media. I send Bible verses, inspiring quotes, and even short video prayers just to let them know that we are here and the Lord is always there for them! Even the mere, "Good morning Kuya and Ate! Kumusta naman mo? Hope ALL is well! Amping kanunay! And God bless!" would go a long way.
Being an Action Group Leader is, maybe, a challenging role but, it is also one of the most exciting roles. As an action group leader;
• You have the opportunity to encounter God up close and personal through the sharing of our action group members on how God is at work in their lives.
• You have the privilege to assist and witness the spiritual growth of your members.
• You have each other to share the joys and sorrows of each member.
• Your circle of family expands as they become
your extended family. Some even become closer
than family.
So after (more or less) 7 months, I can say that, an
Action Group Leader is a servant-leader. You
have to “BE” with them. You have to
“CONNECT” with them emotionally and spiritually. And for me, the main objective is to
grow spiritually WITH them.
Thank you so much da’ONEs (D1’s) for all your support and prayers to our Action Group. Never a dull moment with you guys! Every Action Group Meeting has its surprise. Tissue.... Please!
