 SERVICE IN THE COMMUNITY UPDATES
WHAT ARE YOUR ACTIVITIES?
Inspite of this pandemic situation where gatherings or meetings are not allowed, we managed to conduct our action group meetings with the action group leaders through a virtual meeting. We can still discuss and make action plans for the unit, like to have regular updates on all tasks and assignments. Also, as a Unit Leader, we see to it that we can attend the invitations of the action group leaders for their virtual action groups meetings.
Placing our locality under General Community Quarantine did not hinder us from doing our one-on-one meetings with the AGL’s, one of our important roles. We are doing it through phone or video calls. This one-on-one meeting is part of the caring system for the action group leaders aimed to help them to grow more in their relationship with the Lord.
As a Unit Leader, we find ways that we can immediately disseminate to the Action Group Leaders the schedule of virtual activities of the chapter which include breakfasts, teaching nights and assemblies. With the aid of virtual technology, we are glad that it is still possible for most of our members to attend the activities.
Being a Unit Leader, we try our best to foster good camaraderie within the group which includes proper communication, coordination, and teamwork for the unit to function properly.
WHAT ARE YOUR CHALLENGES AS A UNIT LEARDER?
It cannot be denied that we experience challenges and I take it as a part of Christian life especially when you serve God. In this pandemic time, I worry for the safety of my family, relatives and the members of the unit as well. Due to this quarantine protocol, we cannot visit them physically. We could only call them and give spiritual advice through prayers or provide them with financial assistance if we can. What makes it more challenging is when we
encounter problems like slow or no signal of the internet connection during action group meetings or chapter activities. Thus the reason why some of our members cannot attend the activities.
WHAT HAVE BEEN THE HAPPY POINTS FOR YOU AS A UNIT LEADER?
As a new unit leader, we get acquainted with new faces and get to know the members of our unit better. Perhaps, having our brothers and sisters is part of the Lord’s plans and we are delighted to have them with us in our unit.
Christmas Party is one of the exciting activities in the BCBP Chapter and , I remember last years’ experience that we only had limited time for the dance practice of our presentation. Moreover, some of them could not attend because they were stuck in the heavy traffic and had conflicts with time from their work. Anyway, our unit decided that all members must join on the day of the actual presentation even if they had not practiced, just for fun. It was a surprising moment since we won as the Most Participative Unit. I am truly grateful for the support of our unitmembers and other BCBP brothers and sisters.
WHAT ARE YOUR VISIONS AND HOPES FOR YOUR UNIT?
Our vision is for our members to be truly committed and uphold the mission and vision of thecommunity.
It is our hope and our dreams that all our unit members will have a healthy physical and spiritual life and not to be tired of providing service and support to the community.
