CHRIST YOUTH CIRCLE UPDATES
After our last class of the day back in March, we were asked to gather around our department building for a few announcements.
ENDURANCE AND RESILIENCE THROUGH FAITH
BCBP YOUTH - MANDAUE IN ACTION
Our teachers informed us that all classes in the following week are suspended until further notice. There were a few happy faces, and there were very concerned ones, too.
It was because of COVID-19 that our classes were abruptly cut short. While I am blessed enough to not worry about certain aspects of my daily life, I do wonder and worry about some of my friends who are not as fortunate as I am.
Days, weeks, and months passed by. I am still stuck at home due to the ECQ/GCQ restrictions in our city. Being unable to go out was particularly annoying but it was a necessary precaution we had to take. I couldn’t just stay idle at home, so I occupied myself doing different activities like playing musical instruments and even getting a part-time job online.
One way I cope with the isolation COVID-19 has brought upon me was to call or chat with my friends as well as my fellow BCBP youth. To add a bit of excitement into our quarantined lives, we, the BCBP Youth Council Mandaue- Talamban, decided to schedule an online TEAM ACTION GROUP (TAG) with the help of Mr. Rhine and Mrs. Shaun Acre, and Ms. Reah Uy. Having an online TAG was a first for all of us. And funny enough, there were a bunch of
errors and delays as we tried to get everybody settled into the call. We pushed through despite the inconveniences and had a very fruitful online gathering.
Our recent online TAG made me reflect more about our faith. It reminded me to stay grounded and to stay strong amidst the pandemic. People may consider holding on to strong religious beliefs as “toxic positivity,” but I do not see it that way. I believe and pray that people devote themselves to their religion not because it is their coping mechanism; but because they truly believe and trust in God’s plan for all of us.
My previous professor once said, “This God- concept gives us these beautiful aspects of being human: to believe, to trust, and to hope in the midst of life's struggles.” Our faith should be based on our heart’s aspirations towards God. Our faith should help us stay strong and find meaning in our current situation. We have to surrender ourselves to Him so that we may continue to walk forward without worries and anxieties amidst the misfortunes and struggles.
If ever you are someone who is trusted by others or who can help others even just a little bit, I hope you continue to stay generous and kindhearted despite these trying times. Let your faith shine through in your actions. Human as we are, we are only able to maintain ourselves by helping each other.
