We began the project by performing a facility
condition assessment for the interior spaces of
the Instructional department of the Chemistry
Building. Assessment of the envelope, structure
and mechanical systems for both of the buildings
                                       housing the instructional department were
included in the assessment, as well as a feasibility
assessment of the Medical Sciences Center across MAIN FLOOR DEPARTMENTAL PLAN
                                       the street.
The Instructional Program was evaluated and a
program was established for the future needs
of the department. Several different phasing
strategies were evaluated to map the future
expansion of the facility over the course of the
                                       next 25-50 years.

The program information was used to create
the Schematic Design Concept for the study.
The design concept included innovations to
the laboratory instructional space that adapt
the building to future pedagogies and also INSTRUCTIONAL LABORATORY
