20,000 spectators were locked out of the
games.

e LOC took up an initiative, a legacy program for
tree planting. The LOC promoted a tree planting
program where any school that participated would
get tickets to attend the Championships. e LOC-
Marketing and Commercial Directorate sent formal
invitation letters to different schools
that they met or interacted with during
the caravan marketing campaign.
On arrival at the Kasarani Stadium
they were ushered in by the marketing
volunteers who had been assigned to
the schools’ initiative. ey were then
searched at the entrance as they were
being issued tickets and were directed
to their booths where they were as-

signed. The teachers were given the
numbers of the team leaders to facili-
tate for eff ective communication and
