“Did you know that scientists once taught American Sign Language to a chimpanzee named Washoe?” DJ asked. Aimi shook her head. “Well, they did. Washoe learned over 800 signs. And the amazing thing was that she began to teach the signs to other chimpanzees.”
“800 signs is a lot of signs,” said Aimi. “There are only 26 letters in the alphabet.”
“In the English alphabet,” said DJ. “Not only that, chimps recognize the numbers 1-9. Okay, if you’re ready to climb back up on the stool, I’ll finish the sketch.”
Aimi was ready. She climbed back up on the stool.
