One—Startling Screech
“Do you see any birds?” asked Aimi.
“Yes,” said Connor. “I see lots of seagulls.”
“Do you see a peacock?” asked Aimi.
“No,” said Connor, laughing. “There are no
peacocks at the beach.”
“I talked to Peacock at the Bird Zoo,” Aimi said.
“Peacock did not talk. He just screeched. His screech was so loud I had to cover my ears with my hands.”
“My teacher said Peacock’s screeches can be very loud,” said Connor. “Seagulls screech, too, but not as loud as a Peacock can screech.” Aimi laughed. “What are you laughing about?” asked Connor.
“A big green bird named Keeto is talking to me,” said Aimi.
Talking to you?” asked Connor. “What is the big green bird saying?”
