Three—Jungle-Gym Catastrophe
When they reached the park with the huge jungle gym, Grami parked the car in the parking lot closest to the jungle gym. Tad helped Grami carry the bulging brown wicker basket to the picnic table near the huge jungle gym.
“Thank you,” said Grami. “You can play on the jungle gym or on the swings or on the merry-go-round or even on the teeter-totter. I’ll read my book here in the shade and call you when it’s time for lunch.”
“Unless my stomach calls me for lunch first,” said Tad, laughing.
“You’re always hungry,” said Toni.
“Not always,” said Tad. “I’m not hungry right after I’ve eaten one of Grami’s good picnic lunches!”
Toni and Tad and Aimi ran off to play on the equipment. Tad picked a swing. Toni picked the merry- go-round. Aimi ran past the swings and the merry-go- round and began climbing on the huge jungle gym.
Grami sat down in the shade to read her book. There was a pleasant breeze. After a while Grami looked at her watch. “Oh my,” she said to herself. “I got lost in the story. It’s almost time for lunch. I better get busy.”
“Grami!” called Aimi. “Look how high I am on the jungle gym.”
Grami looked up from the picnic table where she was unpacking the brown bulging wicker basket. “I see you, Aimi,” called Grami. “I see you. Hold onto the bars with both hands.”
The twins, Toni and Tad looked, too. “You are very high,” said Tad. “You are higher than I can swing.”
