Dr. Stafford took a roll of pink casting plaster and carefully wound it around and around and around Aimi’s broken arm. By the time all the rolls of pink casting plaster had been used, only Aimi’s thumb and the tips of her fingers showed from the end of the cast.
“Avoid bumping this new pink cast against anything hard for the next few days,” said the orthopedic surgeon with ebony skin and big black eyes. “The casting plaster needs to dry without any dents, cuts, or holes. I’ll put your arm in a sling. That will remind you to protect your new pink cast.”
