“Will you write your name on my new pink cast?” asked Aimi.
“Certainly,” said Dr. Stafford, “but only after your new pink cast is completely dry.”
“How long will that take?” asked Aimi.
“At least 48 hours,” said the orthopedic surgeon with ebony skin and big black eyes “I’ll sign my name on your new pink cast when you come back to my office for a checkup.”
“When can I sign my name?” asked Toni.
“When can I sign my name?” asked Tad.
“Wait at least 48 hours,” said Dr. Stafford. “After
that, tap gently on the cast with your finger tip. If you hear a hollow sound, write your name on Aimi’s cast. You can even draw pictures on it, if Aimi wants you to do that.”
