On completion of your Rail Trail adventure in Middlemarch you take the Taieri Gorge train to Dunedin, arriving at 6.30pm. Our guide will meet you at the Dunedin Station for transfer to your St Clair accommodation for the night. The following day we have a fun-filled, sight-seeing adventure planned, before our shuttle takes you back to Dunedin Airport, arriving 3:00pm.
Your day starts with a visit to the Otago Peninsula and Royal Albatross Centre at Taiaroa Heads, an area of outstanding natural beauty and wildlife. Here you can visit the world’s only mainland breeding colony of Royal Albatross, the historic Fort Taiaroa, and see the Little Blue Penguin colony at Pilots Beach.
Next stop, Natures Wonders tour on an 8-wheel, all-terrain vehicle, taking you on an exhilarating cross country tour. Natures Wonders is located right on the forefront of the Otago Peninsula headland, and is the most precious wildlife habitat in New Zealand. It has been described as “one of the finest examples of eco-tourism in the world”
After these 2 great tours enjoy a leisurely lunch at Harbourside Grill on Dunedin’s Waterfront.
At the completion of your day we will shuttle you to Dunedin Airport or if you’re staying on in Dunedin, your accommodation.
