However, when you begin to perform charity under a higher interpretation of the scriptures, the unconscious becomes puri ed and you begin to draw ideal circumstances to yourself for greater expressions of charity. Therefore, you do not have to look for such ideal conditions. Rather, by merely practicing charity in your daily life in whatever manner possible, you are promoting the highest charity.
Guidelines for the Practice of Charity in Taittiriya Upanishad
About the nature of charity, Taittiriya Upanishad states,
“Give with faith, not faithlessness; give generously; give with a sense of shyness and modesty;
give with caution; give with sympathy and love.”
Give with Faith: Whenever you give, have faith in righteousness, faith in God within you, and faith in God within others. Develop an understanding that every act of charity is an effective worship of God in humanity. God assumes the form of the poor, the sick, and the downtrodden, and thus offers His devotees opportunities to practice charity and magnanimity in many ways. Thus, by your acts of charity, you propitiate the Divine Self and become endowed with the best of Divine qualities.
