His rest is within Himself; rest is His very essential nature. God transcends creation.
In the Upanishads it is said that God created the whole world, permeates it, and yet at all times remains ten ngers above the world. He remains untouched. This is similar to a large Mack Truck passing through an archway with a clearance of ten ngers. There is a heavenly transcendental dimension within your consciousness wherein the whole world can be surpassed. Reaching out to that transcendental dimension within is the true observance of Sabbath.
Adoring God in Silence
The word “Sabbath” mystically signi es adoring God in silence. Every aspirant should set apart half an hour to an hour each day when he can retire into silent meditation. Similar to God retiring from His entire creation, you must retire from your entire creation—from your values, from your worries, from your concepts, from your notions. That retiring into the realm of spiritual silence is an important part of the practice of honoring the Sabbath and keeping it holy.
