with your parents. It is easy to see God as the source of their wonderful care and affection. As you continue to mature, you begin to see God operating in your teachers and in all human relationships.
As long as you do not recognize God within other human beings, relationships remain shallow and  eeting, and there is no  rm foundation supporting them. But when you begin to worship God through a relationship, you have discovered the great secret of experiencing true and enduring love.
As you become devoted to your elders and try to please them, you become more enduring, more patient. This allows you to grow up with discipline. On the other hand, in situations where children are constantly disrespectful to their elders and rebel against discipline, life begins on a shaky and discordant foundation.
Honoring your elders and seeing God within them is the  rst stage in a very important spiritual process that eventually culminates in the profound experience of Self-realization. When you attain this experience of Enlightenment, you realize God to be the essence or substratum of all that exists—of yourself as well as of all beings in this vast creation.
Can Parents Be Wrong?
In the lives of many people there are times when the commandment to honor one’s parents cannot be followed strictly for practical or spiritual reasons.
