attained a transcendental level of consciousness, you rise above all normal concepts of activity and inactivity. You realize, “I am not this body that operates through the mind and senses. I am the Spirit, the nondual Self.” Although as a personality you are involved in activity, deep within, you are not the “doer” or the “actor”—you are Spirit, beyond activity.
An enlightened Sage, free of egoistic desires, leaves the fruits of action in Divine Hands. Therefore, for a Sage, activity of the body does not affect the vision of inactivity of the Spirit. Though dynamically involved in activity, great Sages are completely inactive within. Similarly, with a higher level of awareness of your essential nature, you may continue to be busy and still keep the Sabbath holy. That is the true observance of Sabbath, the true transcendence of action.
Fifth Commandment
Honor thy father and thy mother.
In the Upanishads, it is said, “Maitri devo bhava”—“Let your mother be your God” and “Pitri devo bhava”—“Let your father be your God.” In homes where there is an environment of love and warmth, it is easy for you to begin learning to honor and respect others through your primary relationship
