Initially, Joseph was ashamed to reveal that Mary was with child. But when the Angel (Divine insight) informed him of the implications of Mary’s conception, he was overjoyed. Such is the manner in which the ego of man comes to joyfully recognize a spiritual unfolding that must transcend and efface it—the mystical process of the birth of Christ, His growth, and nal attainment.
The Meaning of Isaiah’s Prophecy
Prophecies are symbolic of the Divine possibilities in human consciousness. These prophecies are not ful lled as a historical development, but in the form of spiritual revelation and Divine realization within an aspirant. From this point of view, the Divine Birth in man has been prophesized in all religions of the world. But this birth necessitates the recovery of the pure state of the mind and the transcending of egoistic values. The Divine Birth is the revelation of what already exists as the Reality. Such revelation brings about a spiritual transformation in one’s own consciousness and invokes a series of mystical developments in order to lead the soul from the realms of limitations and relativity to the realm of eternity and transcendence.
Isaiah implied that the Virgin Mind, intuition, would be revealed in the process of spiritual transformation. Such a Mind would commune with the Supreme Divinity. This intuitive state follows
