the manifestation of God in the consciousness of man in the form of spiritual aspiration. The Divine Son is called Immanuel (God is with us), because He points to the transcendent glory of the Self. Spiritual aspiration is in itself a glimpse of the essential Divinity within everyone; and the blossoming of such an aspiration implies a complete realization of the Divinity. Thus, the Divine Son leads one to the Heavenly Father—aspiration leads one to Liberation.
It is interesting to note that the Christian concept of the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Ghost) is similar to the Vedantic concept of Brahman as Existence (Sat), Consciousness (Chit) and Bliss (Ananda). The Father possesses absolute power; He is the Supreme Existence behind all names and forms. The Son is the Embodiment of Absolute Consciousness or Knowledge, Who manifests to promote Enlightenment. The Holy Spirit is the Embodiment of Love, and therefore is characterized by limitless Bliss. In both Christian and Vedic mysticism, these Three are not separate, but united. It is the One expressing in Three.
The Way to Christ-Consciousness
With the understanding of the mystical symbolism implied in Christ’s birth, an aspirant should not look forward in the distant future for Saviors to come, but he should create the circumstances of the Divine Birth within himself.
