Vacuum Circuit Breaker

The vacuum circuit breaker (VCB) is a modern, light-weight and reliable, single-pole

alternating current circuit breaker for rail vehicles.

It is suitable for roof mounting on top of locomotives and

traction vehicles. The VCB is combined with an earthing isolator integrated on the

base plate.

Main Transformer
The input of the main transformer is the power drawn from the 22,500 V

AC catenary system at the voltage provided by the power supply.
The outputs of the main transformer supply the energy for the traction converters

and auxiliary converters. The output voltage is always equal to the input voltage divided by
the transformer ratio (internal voltage losses neglected).
