Hello fellow aviation enthusiasts,
Like many, I attended the conference of the Canadian Aeronautical Preservation Association last week. Held
at the Bomber Command Museum of Canada in Nanton, Alberta, the conference was one of the very best
such events I have attended. Credit goes to the organizers in Nanton for developing a fine program, and for
the excellent sessions, which I enjoyed very much.
I had the opportunity to give a presentation about Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame, speaking about how we
honour outstanding achievement in Canadian aviation. I wanted to follow up my talk by encouraging you to
submit nominations for individuals as Members of the Hall, or for organizations to be recognized with the Belt
of Orion Award for Excellence.
Please visit our web site at www.cahf.ca and click on NOMINATE at the top of the home page to bring up
information and application forms. Note that the deadline each year to submit nominations is May 31.
Information about all Members who have been inducted and all recipients of the Belt of Orion Award can be
found on our web site by clicking on MEMBERS at our home page.
In the near future we will be announcing those who will honoured at the 2018 induction ceremonies, to be
held in Calgary on June 7. I will ensure that you receive the news release when it is distributed.
Please give serious consideration for nominations you may wish to submit for individuals or organizations to
be honoured by Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame. Feel free to contact myself or the Hall of Fame office at any
time if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
John Chalmers, M.Ed.
