                                                  N E   of the  greatest  of puzzles

                                                    to  Fairbrass  was  the  church
                                                    to which  he was  taken  every

                                                    Sunday,  a  fine  old  church
                                                    very  near  to  his  home,  and

                             within  easy  hail  of  the  friendly  Poplar-
                             trees.  As  far  as  he  was  concerned,  he  liked
                             the  church  and  its  services  well  enough.

                             There  was  to  him  something  remarkably

                             cosy  in  being  packed  away  ouce  a  week
