I pledge allegiance to the flag
of The United States of America and
to the Republic for which it stands
One nation under God, Indivisible with
Liberty and Justice for All.

TEXAS PLEDGE
“Honor the Texas Flag; I pledge allegiance
to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible.”

PROPER RESPECT FOR THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Students should stand during the Pledge and the National Anthem. When the flag is being raised
and the Star Spangled Banner is being played, all should stand straight facing the flag until it is fully
raised and the music stops. Hats, caps, etc. must be removed during the anthem. The pledge
follows the anthem. All should remain at attention and place the right hand over the heart and
recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

PLEDGES OF ALLEGIANCE AND A MINUTE OF SILENCE
Each school day, students will recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag and
the Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas flag. Parents may submit a written request to the
principal to excuse their child from reciting a pledge. One minute of silence will follow
recitation of the pledges. Each student may choose to reflect, pray, meditate, or engage in
any other silent activity during that minute so long as the silent activity does not interfere
