When an investigation is initiated for alleged prohibited conduct, the district will
determine whether the allegations, if proven, would constitute bullying, as defined by law.
If so, an investigation of bullying will also be conducted [See policy FFI].
If the district’s investigation indicates that prohibited conduct occurred, appropriate
disciplinary action, and, in some cases, corrective action, will be taken to address the
conduct. The district may take disciplinary and corrective action even if the conduct that is
the subject of the complaint was not unlawful.
A student or parent who is dissatisfied with the outcome of the investigation may appeal in
accordance with policy FNG(LOCAL).

Hazing
Hazing is defined as any intentional, knowing or reckless act occurring on or off campus
directed against a student that endangers the mental or physical health or the safety of a
student for the purpose of pledging, being initiated to, affiliating with, holding office in, or
maintaining membership in any organization whose members are or include other
students.
Hazing will not be tolerated by the district. If an incident of hazing occurs, disciplinary
consequences will be handled in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. It is a
criminal offense if a person engages in hazing; solicits, encourages, directs, aids, or
attempts to aid another in hazing; or has firsthand knowledge of an incident of hazing
being planned or having occurred and fails to report this to the principal or superintendent.
Harassment On The Basis Of Race, Color, Religion, National Origin, or Disability
Students must not engage in harassment behaviors motivated by race, color, religion,
national origin, or disability directed toward another student.
Students are expected to treat other students and district employees with courtesy and
respect; to avoid any behaviors known to be offensive; and to stop these behaviors when
asked or told to stop.
The District encourages parental and student support in its efforts to address and prevent
harassment in any form in the public schools. Students and/or parents are encouraged to
discuss their questions or concerns about the expectations in this area with a teacher,
counselor, principal or designee.
A student who believes he or she has been harassed by another student or by a district
employee is encouraged to report the incident to school administration. The allegations
will be investigated and addressed. A substantiated complaint against a student will result
in appropriate disciplinary action, according to the nature of the offense and the Student
Code of Conduct.
The student or a parent may appeal the decision of the school administration regarding the
outcome of the investigation in accordance with policy FNG (LOCAL).
