Spotlight on Pre FSL
Keeping in mind that toddlers learn best through play and
hands-on experiences, the design of the Pre FSL curriculum
involves creating a well-rounded and developmentally
appropriate plan that addresses their physical, social,
emotional, and cognitive needs. Flexibility and adaptability
are necessities to ensure that the uniqueness of each child is
celebrated.
‘Heuristic Play’ has been a focus of our Pre FSL teachers as it
promotes exploration and discovery. ‘Treasure Baskets’ are
lled with everyday things allowing the children to interact
with them and raise their understanding of the real world.
‘Gym Day’ focuses on building their gross motor skills,
developing a good sense of body awareness, exploring space,
and improving control and coordination of their limbs.
‘Community Fun Day’ is a weekly source of sensorial
experiences. The Pre FSL children engage in water play, sand
play, games and much more. It is a day that is looked forward
to by our children, parents and teachers.
‘Gourmet Moments’ provide opportunities for children to
extend their sensorial experiences. Preparing their own snack,
‘cereals and milk’ and drink, ‘banana smoothie’ are some
examples.
Embedded in all these activities are the positive relationships
that the teachers have built with their children.
