levels in order to learn their emotional, physical and social well-being.

A teacher that is kind, open and easy to communicate with. An ideal teacher for this school

is required to know each child intimately and extends a relationship to children beyond

the task of teaching and learning. A teacher that is friendly yet firm, respects learners,
engages with learners in and out of the class and always encourages learners to be kind

and respectful. A teacher that is easy to talk to opens up a window and a platform for
learners to communicate the issues, for example their personal problems at home that

hinder learning, their reasons for substance abuse or anger issues, violence,
absenteeism and teenage pregnancy etc.

• An ideal teacher knows that that the work of learning extends outside of the
classroom, that learners can deepen their understandings through learning

outside the classroom.
• An ideal teacher works collaboratively with other colleagues in order to

improve his/ her area of study and to promote an atmosphere of
collaborative work with other experts.
