The new president favored quick restoration of the seceded states to the
Union. His plans did not give protection to the former slaves, and he
came into conflict with the Republican-dominated Congress, culminating
in his impeachment by the House of Representatives. He was acquitted in
the Senate by one vote.
After WW1, The US was recognized as a world power and Woodrow
Wilson’s second term is over, Conservatives will have full control and the
KKK is larger and stronger than ever.
This was a period whose ripple effects can still be felt to this day. A period
wherein; prohibition was the topic of conversation; the reformation of the
KKK in which up to four million members were counted by the year 1924;
the Immigration Act of 1924 was passed, this act limited the number
of people who would be admitted as immigrants; and the birth of the Jazz
age gave the youth of that decade something to talk about.
With the corruption of Warren G. Harding (Conservative, Republican),
John Calvin Coolidge Jr. (Conservative, Republican) and Herbert
Hoover (Conservative, Republican), despite a “roaring” start to the
