Is it very hard to be a taxi driver?
Traveler: Taxi, please!
Taxi Driver: Where are we heading to, Ma’am?
Traveler: Can you please take me to the Holiday Inn?
Taxi Driver: As you wish Ma’am.
Traveler: Thanks a lot Mr. Driver!
Taxi Driver: You’re welcome!
Traveler: Gee, it’s so great to have cabs around. It’s really helpful, especially with tourists. Cab drivers
know almost everywhere we want to go, don’t they?
Taxi Driver: Everyday I get to have passengers who want to go to different places, that’s why I happen to
memorize and learn every street /every place from here.
Traveler: Wow! You’re very clever!
Taxi Driver: No Ma’am I’m not, just a little. I guess.
Traveler: It’s good that we can get to meet funny people like you. You make our trip just right. So, is it
very hard to be a taxi driver?
Taxi Driver: No, it’s not that hard, but sometimes I wished that I was as lucky as those businessmen I see
everyday.
Traveler: You should not feel that way. Being a businesswoman/businessman isn’t that easy too. Some-
times, we also wish that we could live as simply as you do. No deadlines, no tiring conventions!
Taxi Driver: That, I can’t understand, you wouldn’t wish to live like us because it’s really very hard. Just
be thankful that you’re luckier, Ma’am. Ok, we’re here at the Holiday Inn.
Traveler: I am happy and thankful of my life. It’s just that sometimes, it’s getting complicated. Anyway,
how much do I owe you, Sir?
Taxi Driver: That’s $ 18.75.
Traveler: Well, I enjoyed talking to you, here’s $ 20. I wish you better luck!
Taxi Driver: I wish you the same thing! Enjoy your stay here.
