Mechatronics Gets New Robotic Arm
DMTC’s Mechatronics program has pur-
chased a Universal Robotics UR3e collab-
orative robot arm. Universal Robotics is a
leader in the collaborative robotics mar-
ket, and its equipment can be found in
most of the leading manufacturing facili-
ties in the Upstate. The UR3e model will
be used in the Mechatronics level 3 and 4
classes to give students a very hands-on
experience dealing with robotic automa-
tion. Students will use a programmable
interface to control the robotic arm in
performing a variety of placement and
assembly tasks.
Graphic Communications Acquires New Printer/Cutter
The Graphic Communications pro-
gram purchased a new Roland 64”
TrueVIS SG2-640 Printer/Cutter ma-
chine. It is the largest size they make
and will allow the students to make
banners, signs, and window decals
just to name a few. This machine will
allow students to create a design
with multi-colored configurations
and then has the ability to print and
cut the vinyl all in one pass. It will
provide students invaluable skills
that will help make them more mar-
ketable when entering the graphic
communications workforce.
