CAVALLO - THE LAVEZZI ISLANDS
In the morning take a cruise from Piantarella Bay to Cavallo Island (1
hour underway). Drop anchor and spend the day at leisure.
One of the best kept secrets of the Lavezzi Isles, Cavallo is known as
the Mustique of the Med. The shape of a jigsaw piece and fringed by
a collection of rounded, stone boulders in many hues, the Romans
used the fabulous Cavallo granite for their sculptures. All building is
currently prohibited and there are no cars. only golf buggies and
bicycles. Aside from a handful of spectacular hotels with private
strips, the ten main beaches are all wild and natural.
The nearby rocky Lavezzi islets of San Bainso and Camaro Canto are
uninhabited and Lavezzu boasts a lighthouse plus great anchorages.
Ile Piana is only 300m off the coast of Petit Sperone mainland beach
and accessible on foot via a small sandbar.
Spend the night at anchor off Cavallo.
