FACILITY MANAGEMENT (FM) - INTEGRATION

• FM involvement as operator in its role and working collaboratively with the design

team and construction team throughout the project will help identify problems.

The earlier a problem can be fixed, the lower the cost of change will be.

• The earlier the FM can be involved with a development project, the greater the

FM’s influence and potential impact will be.

• The FM must ensure they are invited to all project meetings from the earliest

stage of any project to gain the maximum benefits of the FM.

• British Standard 8536: 2015 Code of Practice for FM provides advice on the roles

and responsibilities of the design team and includes two roles which could be

considered FM roles:

1. The Owner’s Representative

2. The Operator, Operations Team and Facility Manager
