AIRSHOW HIGHLIGHtS...
A Stunning Airshow Summer
M ay through July is the heart of the airshow
season around the world. Elsewhere in this
issue, we have extended coverage of North
America’s largest airshow – EAA AirVenture
in Oshkosh, Wisconsin – as well as coverage of
Europe’s largest airshow – the Royal International
Air Tattoo in England. We also have a special
report on a brand-new airshow in England, the
warbird-focused Sywell Airshow, and coverage of
the Arctic Thunder show in Alaska.
Our team of expert photographers were also
out in force on the East Coast, in the Midwest,
in Canada, and on the West Coast, capturing
hundreds of stunning photographs at many of the
great airshows taking place this summer. We have
picked the best of their best to showcase over the
next few pages. Italy’s Frecce Tricolori jet team
toured North America this summer, and while
we are planning a full report on the tour for our
Fourth Quarter issue, this edition of Airshow
Highlights provides a sneak peek at their colorful Top: A cool close-up of the USAF Thunderbirds Echelon pass in review at the WaterStone Bank Air
performance. and Water Show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (photo by Shawn Yost).
As always, we receive many more great
photographs that we just don’t have room for in Above: Thom Richard in his P-40 “American Dream” and Scott “Scooter” Yoak in his P-51 “Quick
print. So, to check out even more great images Silver” ran their engines for photographers one night at The Greatest Show on Turf in Geneseo, New
