Matthew Walker (single): an attractive stopper knot, usually made on
laid rope at any position throughout its length. They may also be made at
the end of a rope, when the tails are whipped.
Form this knot by passing each strand around the rope in the direction of
the lay under the other two strands, while retaining a bight (figure 91.1).
Take the second strand around and pass it up through the first bight and
retain a second bight. Repeat with the third strand following around and
up through the first bight, then on and up through the second bight
(figure 91.2). Then you can carefully work tight and finish off the knot
(figure 91.3).
