Monofilament line: a single strand of nylon, available in a wide range of
breaking strengths. It is the most popular type of line in use today with

anglers. After a period of time, however, the monofilament will loose
some of its properties, resulting in a reduction of its breaking strength,
and thus the angler needs to check his or her line and replace it if
               necessary.
